General information

Essential Player Information

WE OPERATE A "NO GUM SHIELD NO PLAY" RULE. Parents, we would encourage you to make this your childs responsibility each and every week, along with making sure they have their boots and a filled water bottle.

PLEASE MARK ALL KIT WITH YOUR CHILDS NAME! This includes boots, water bottles, bags, tops, shorts and socks.

The U9's will be training on Pitch 4 * this season- please note that only players and coaches are allowed onto the pitch. Parents, please use the stands around the periphery and do not go onto the pitch unless invited.

*PLEASE CHECK THE PICTH ALLOCATION PAGE ON THIS WEBSITE FOR PITCH UPDATES EACH WEEK

Note that the Catering van will be open for tea, coffee and bacon rolls however as you are required to remain pitchside in case of incidents, please do come back to pitchside once you have your refreshments.

General information

We train from 9am (sharp) to 10.30am every Sunday. We are introducing the squad to contact this season and will be focusing on developing their skills in a safe controlled environment to build confidence in all players.

This is a safe and enjoyable introduction designed to introduce children to a lifetime of rugby. We aim to ensure that ALL our squad reach their maximum potential through fun training sessions with qualified coaches.

Players should arrive by 08:55 to start training promptly at 9:00am.

A typical Sunday training session is as follows:-

  • 08:55 - Arrival (with gum shield and water)
  • 09.00 - 09:15 Pulse-raiser warm up
  • 09:15 - 09:45 Skill Zone / Game Zone
  • 09:45 - 10:30 Game Play
  • 10.30 - finish

THE ESSENTIAL KIT YOU NEED IS TO PLAY:

  • Gum shield
  • Rugby or football boots (please ensure studs are either full moulded or full metal - NO METAL TIPS)
  • Socks
  • Rugby top
  • Shorts

As the season progresses, your child will need plenty of layers. We recommend base layers (Skins), gloves and hats. Please ensure your child is not wearing . jumper or jacket with a hood and avoid zips where possible.

All kit is available from the M&J Shop or JSSK at Les Quenevais.

FINALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY.....

We train come rain, snow or shine so please make sure every player is 'layered up" for training and has a woolly hat (no bobbles!!) - the club version available from the shop on a Sunday morning is a good option.

This is so important if the players are going to enjoy winter training - a t-shirt and shorts is just not enough - we can always take layers off but shivering players are unhappy bunnies!!

It may also be useful to keep a change of clothes and a towel in the car on wet days - it really helps afterwards.

GUM SHIELDS - they are a must and are for the players welfare. As we are moving to contact we strongly recommend that you purchase a well fitting gum shield for your child that can be moulded as their teeth develop. You can also get correctly fitted gumshields from super Smiles Charity or some local dentists to ensure a good fit.

Don't forget, we operate a "no gum shield no play" rule.

SUPERVISION

While we have a team of coaches on the pitch looking after your children,
we are not responsible for your children. Accidents do occasionally happen and therefore it is essential that a parent/carer is present pitchside, if you will be somewhere else on club grounds or if another parent is taking responsibility for your child, this is fine but please let the manager know at the beginning of the session and leave a mobile contact number.

DOGS - For the safety of all players, dogs are not permitted within the grounds of the Jersey Rugby Club.
