Thank you everyone - see you in September!
We are on pitch 5 this week unless otherwise informed. Please wrap up and ensure gum sheilds are with your children. WE OPERATE A "NO GUM SHIELD NO PLAY" RULE. This rule will be inforce and we do not what to turn away anyone.
Coaches: We are always looking for extra help pitch side. If you are able to assist, pease contact the under 7's manager or the lead coaches for details.
Remember when coaches are selecting squads they are looking for the 5 'A's'. Good rugby players have and always display the 5 'A's':-
We train come rain, snow or shine so please make sure every player is 'layered up" for training and has a woolly hat (no bobbles!!) - the club version available from the shop on a Sunday morning is a good option.
**** PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR TAG BELTS AND PUT ON AFTER YOUR BIBS ****
We train from 9am (sharp) to 10.00am every Sunday. Registration is from 08:30 - 08:45 and would ask you to be prompt in order to get everyone set up to satrt on time. We play 'MIXED tag' rugby (no contact allowed) following RFU guidelines. This is a safe and enjoyable introduction designed to introduce children to a lifetime of rugby. We aim to ensure that ALL our squad reach their maximum potential through fun training sessions with qualified coaches with particular focus on ensuring the children are having FUN!!
A typical Sunday training session is as follows:-
8.30am - 8.45am - Arrive (with tag belts, gum shield and water) and warm up under coaches guidance
9.00am - Rugby skills development & Games delelopment
9.45am - Game play / Group game depending on conditiions
10.00am - finish
TOP TIPS FOR ALL U7 PLAYERS AND PARENTS
Your child will be given a tag belt when they attend their first training session. Please ensure your child arrives each week in the appropriate kit and their tag belt is put on over their coloured bib.
THE ESSENTIAL KIT YOU NEED IS TO PLAY:
Rugby or football boots (no metal screw tips)
OPTIONAL KIT BUT STRONGLY ADVISED:-
'Skins' - underlayers for the cold days
Fingerless rugby gloves
All kit is available from the M&J Shop or JSSK sports shops in town.
FINALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY.....
We train come rain, snow or shine so please make sure every player is 'layered up" for training and has a woolly hat (no bobbles!!) or Hoodies - the club version of the hat is available from the shop on a Sunday morning is a good option.
This is so important if the players are going to enjoy winter training - a t-shirt and shorts is just not enough - we can always take layers off but shivering players are unhappy bunnies!!
Please make sure each player has a change of clothes and a towel on wet days - it really helps afterwards.
Finally, gum shields - they are a must and are for the players welfare - tag rugby is not a contact sport but, as in all sports, accidents can happen. Snap in gum shields can be bought from as little as £4 in our club shop. Don't forget, we operate a "no gum shield no play" rule.
