2018 Easter Weekend of Rugby

18/02/2017

Welcome to the Jersey Reds M&J’s Weekend of Rugby

This year we are very pleased to have Kleinwort Hambros as our main event sponsor. This is the third year of our arrangement with Kleinwort Hambros; they are keen to support grassroots Rugby. With a strong French connection, they are ideal to support our event with it’s unique International flavour at junior level rugby. We are very grateful for their assistance which helps us to attract teams from mainland UK as well as from France. We are also delighted to announce that SG will be arranging for the legendary Thomas Castaignede to visit us on Saturday to meet the players, present medals and hopefully host a couple of coaching sessions.

Parking - Could all parents and supporters park on Pitch 3 or Pitch 6 please; don’t use the Jersey Bowl carpark or the main Club car park.

Playing Schedule – Easter Saturday - at 10.30 the U7s will use the Pavilion end of P1, the U8s the airport end; The U9s will use the Bowl end of P2 and the U11s the airport end. I would hope that all will be finished by 12.00. Then the U10s will use all of P1 and the U12s all of P2.

Thomas Castaignede will take a light training/warm up session on P4 with the 10s and 12s whilst the youngsters are playing; there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the 7s, 8s, 9s and 11s after their games. P1 is the pitch in front of the Clubhouse; P2 is across the Jersey Bowl car park and P4 is beyond the containers on the far side of P2.

Playing - each Jersey age group will organise their own referees; there are differences between the UK and France in both the rules and indeed the age group criteria. All games must be played to the weakest rules ie 7s and 8s must play tag (UK) and all tackles must be below the waist (France). This isn’t a Festival or Tournament, there won’t be any central co-ordination of scores or results – these will be managed at age group level. Medals and T-shirts will be presented by Thomas C below the balcony at the conclusion of each set of games . St John’s Ambulance will be in attendance in the main club car park should they be required.

Food/Refreshments - drinks and light snacks will be available from the Pavilion, there will be a two course meal served in the Clubhouse from 1.00.

Photography - our official photographers for this event are Jane Pinel, 07797 847738 (janepinelphotography@gmail.com); and Steve Lund, 07797 748642 (lund@localdial.com).
