Shoreham U15 v Jersey U15

Jersey U15s travelled to Shoreham RFC for their second outing of the season. It's been a few seasons since these two sides locked horns and the south coast side were victorious last time.

With a couple of injuries and some unavailable, Jersey travelled with a bare 15 man squad, some out of position and one making his first competitive appearance.

Both sides were keen to run the ball from the kick off with the Jersey pack looking strong and the Shoreham scrumhalf keen to release his back line at every opportunity. Just like the first game of the season, two evenly matched sides with plenty of ambition and willingness to try and play quick, running rugby that was pleasing to watch for any spectator. Jersey, keen and physical at the ruck producing clean ball for Dexter Currie to release the swift back line.

Shoreham, defending stoutly and sharp in transition getting the ball wide to exploit a scrambling defence. Another rollercoaster of a match with a strong sense of deja vu as both side traded 6 tries a piece with one penalty to two conversions. Jersey's best tries coming from a line-out variation in the Shoreham half setting up a midfield drive that produced quick ball for the backs to put through the hands for Raphael Francisco to go over, and Eli Harrison intercepted a pass just outside the 22 and carried all the way with several Shoreham chasers hot on his tail. Shoreham kept coming with Jersey once more holding out close to their try line at the final whistle. Shoreham 33 - 34 Jersey.

A fantastic achievement for the 15 men of Jersey, great collective spirit and determination to give everything for the team.

Try scorers:

Charlie Hewgill, Charlie Richardson = 2 cons, Raphael Francisco, Eli Harrison, Daniel Demont, Zach Nicolle.
