Chichester v Jersey U15 Boys
Chichester 36-37 Jersey U15 Boys
JRFC U15s entered their first league game of the season having had their preparation hampered by the delay to contact training due to the hard ground after the long hot summer. This did not prevent either side from putting on a real show for those watching, even if an absolute nerve shredder for the coaching teams.
From the kick off, both teams were positive with ball in hand and looked threatening. the contact area was fiercely contested and all players were getting stuck in.
The sides were evenly matched which resulted in a real ding dong of a contest. 17-19 to Jersey at half time. The second half was so entertaining that Jersey's coaching and mangement lost complete track of the score and had to check with the ref who had won at the final whistle.
The final minutes saw Jersey under constant pressure 5 mtrs from their try line, defending with every ounce of energy they had left, eventually forcing a handling error to allow the referee to blow for full time. 6 tries and 3 conversions against 6 tries, 2 converions and a penalty gave Jersey the win by one point - 36-37. A real thriller of a match.
Special mention to debutants Raphael Francisco and Daniel Demont who both performed well and Charlie Richardson, nominated as Jersey's Man of the Match by the Chichester players.
