Brighton V Jersey U16 Boys
Brighton 7-27 Jersey U16 Boys
Match Report
On a day where there more chance of seeing Noah’s arc, floating past the goal posts than actually playing a meaningful game of rugby, Jersey U16’s arrived at Brighton aiming to halt the hosts 9 match unbeaten run.
Straight from kick off however, Jersey came out all guns blazing and somehow in the atrocious conditions managed to string a serious of well orchestrated moves culminating in the rapid James Le Cornu flying over after only 10 mins.
Directly from the kickoff however Brighton were awarded a penalty. They quickly fired a cross kick to their waiting winger who strolled over to make the score even.
The rest of the half was literally all Jersey, but they just couldn’t score until a hack through was picked up by brilliant Ronnie Milner who then sidestepped the fullback and ran in to score a superb try. Ht 7-10
The second half continued with Jersey mounting wave after wave of forward attacks, led by the captain Afonso Correia. One such attack resulted in a pick and go by man of the match James Wiseman for Jersey’s 3rd try.
With their tails up Jersey continued to attack and eventually a fourth try came after a lovely arcing run around the Brighton cover defence by Ryan Le Bas.
Not satisfied with the score Jersey kept the pressure on the host’s defence leading to the final try when Carter Ferey swatted the Brighton fullback aside and pounced on the ball, ably converted by Ryan Le Bas. Final score 7-27.
