Worthing V Jersey U14 Boys

Jersey started strongly with some dominant early play. By doing the basics well, we moved the ball efficiently and shipped it down the line into the wide channels. This approach was rewarded with a well worked try in the corner from Sonny Evans, although the conversion was unsuccessful.

We continued to apply pressure, and again some good distribution down the line saw our winger, Arthur Midmer, score a well-deserved try, slightly closer to the posts. Charlie Richardson slotted the conversion between the sticks.

The pressure kept coming, with some great tackling, rucking, and scrummaging allowing us to dominate a struggling Worthing side going into halftime.

Worthing came out much stronger in the second half and began to put Jersey under pressure. Some sloppy play, including missed tackles and dropped balls, allowed Worthing back into the game, leading to their first try, although the conversion was missed. Jersey still played some good rugby at times but were weak around the ruck and gave Worthing more chances to get back into the match. This led to a second Worthing try and a successful conversion, bringing the scores level at 12–12.

The Jersey lads dug deep and rediscovered their first-half form. A great individual effort from Charlie Richardson saw him break the line to touch down for the decisive try. The conversion was unsuccessful, but Jersey held on to secure a 17–12 victory.
