U12 Boys v East Grinstead

On Sunday 25th January the Jersey Under 12's Junior rugby team hosted East Grinstead, who travelled to the Island to play a game in the South East Waterfall Competition. East Grinstead arrived with a strong looking team.

From the kickoff Jersey Captained by Ted Crill played some flowing, fast paced rugby, which resulted in a couple of good quality tries to the home team early in the game. East Grinstead ran the ball strongly, but some very committed tackling by all members of the Jersey team, and some superb technical rucking, led to Jersey turning the ball over against the head on a number of occasions. From several breakdowns, Jerseys scrum half Louis Pallot, delivered some quick ball to the backs, which resulted in Jersey running in several more tries before half time. Jersey eventually finished the half 5 - 0 up.

Jersey again started the second half strongly, their confidence boosted by their first half performance. East Grinstead never took a step back and in a very physical competition, the visitors started to see some success for their efforts. Jersey lost a little shape but continued to show strong running and defence. East Grinstead were rewarded for their efforts crossing the Jersey line for 2 tries. Jersey however proved too strong, scoring a further 5 tries in the second half. In total eight under 12 players scored tries, showing what a great team performance it was. The game was played in great spirit, both teams were totally committed in all aspects of the game and the large crowd of local and travelling supporters were rewarded with a tremendous game. The travelling Coach and supporters were very complimentary about Jerseys play.

The day was finished off with food and drinks in the Clubs Pavilion where the Players of the Match was selected. Jerseys player was Bodhi Edmundson-Jones.
