Match Report

Tries - Fevrier ( 1)
Conversions - Pritchard ( 1)

Jersey travelled to Worthing for what proved to be a challenging fixture against a well-organised opposition. Worthing began the match strongly, dominating territory and possession in the opening exchanges. Sustained pressure resulted in two early tries and a yellow card against Jersey, giving the home side a commanding 14–0 lead.

Jersey responded positively, regaining composure and momentum from the restart. Joseph Griffiths produced an excellent individual effort, breaking through three defenders following a Worthing clearance to put Jersey into a strong attacking position. Captain Quentin Fevrier finished the move clinically, narrowing the scoreline and bringing Jersey back into the contest. Lyle Pritchard converted to make it 14 7

The remainder of the first half was evenly contested, with both sides making errors at key moments. However, Worthing capitalised more effectively on their opportunities and extended their advantage to 24–7 by half-time.

The second half saw Jersey forced to defend for long periods, with difficulties in exiting their own half placing continuous pressure on the defensive line. Both teams demonstrated physicality and determination, though Worthing were particularly effective in moving the ball into wide channels and were well led by their powerful No. 6. The only points of the second half came from a well-struck Worthing penalty.

The final score reflected Worthing’s superiority on the day, as they held the edge across most facets of play. While the result did not go Jersey’s way, the team represented the club well and looked smart in their new kit, generously sponsored by Saltgate.

Jersey now look ahead to their next fixture — a friendly away to East Grinstead on 7 December.

Saltgate continue to sponsor and support the team both on and off the pitch and recently presented the squad with training and playing kit.
