The response was immediate. Joe Griffiths pounced on a great kick by Jonty O’Sullivan over for a try to regain the lead at 12–10, although the difficult wind meant the conversion attempt drifted wide. Just before halftime the opposition struck again with a try, narrowing the score to 19–15 as the teams went into the break.
The second half began with renewed pressure from Pulborough but Jersey got out of their half to dominate territory and possession and soon O’Sullivan had crossed the line to extend the lead to 24–15, though the conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

The opposition fought back late in the game with two tries and a conversion, reducing the margin to 38–27, but the team held firm until the final whistle.
