Horsham V Jersey Colts
Horsham 5-10 Jersey Colts

Match Report
In near perfect conditions the Colts started strongly with an excellent kick ahead into space within Horsham's 22 by fly half Lyle Pritchard.
Chased by right wing Joe Griffiths, the Horsham back 3 failed to deal with it and the loose ball was pounced on by try scorer Jenson Russell diving in the ball in goal.
The kick out wide was narrowly missed by Pritchard making a 5-0 start.
The game was played deep in Jersey territory and didn’t match the weather with lots of unforced errors and a large penalty count halting most of the momentum for either side. Late in the second half a crucial yellow card against Jersey prop Cole Geuno, who had a tremendous scrummaging game, meant that subsequent penalties put Horsham within 5 metre of the Jersey line. Although Jersey had defended brilliantly to that point, Horsham sneak over with a pick and go to level the scores. Half time 5-5.
The second half saw much more conviction from Jersey with better ruck ball but again offside penalties in defence gifted Horsham field position. With some excellent build up play through initially the forwards and then the backs, right wing Griffiths beat two tacklers to score a terrific try in the corner, Pritchard coming close to making it 7 points but the kick went wide. 10-5 Jersey. Despite waves of attack for the remaining 10 minutes of the game, Jersey held on with terrific defence, led by man of the match George Roberts. Notable performances from Alex Powell and Sam Wood. A good win on the road for the Colts.
